An excellent event. Deepest thanks to all concerned,
and additionally to Simon Whetham for recording

Lee Gamble and Tim Goldie for DJing, and to Jackson
for taking care of the sound and general help. To all

This event, a launch party for Jacques Beloeil’s
The Bath of Stars CD, took place at Gunther,
Dennis Tyfus and Vaast Colson’s hexagon-shaped
and glass-walled studio space in central Antwerp.
We are indebted to them for their support and
companionship. Love and thanks to Jos and
Sandro for taking care of us better than our
mothers would, to Sara Ludvigsson, our beautiful
muse, and to all our friends who turned up or
travelled from afar to join us.

Scott and Frans’ Tobacconists set was excellent.
Shelley Parker’s post-show DJing was sharp and hard
as nails. The screening of Foust’s Here’s to Love!
plunged Divus into a dreamlike darkness, gently
soundtracked by the beautiful repetition of Idea Fire
Company and her Swill Radio sisters. The finale,
The Four Accomplishments (Foust’s ‘total entertain-
ment package’), was hilarious — the perfect way
to conclude a most gratifying weekend. Here’s to
Scott and Frans, Jacques, Joe, Ema, Shelley, and
everyone who made the effort to be there.

3 Propositions for a White Room
De Witte Zaal, Gent, May 2008
A top-class presentation of new work by three young sound artists
from Gent. Pauwel De Buck performed an electronic cityscape
based on transformed and manipulated sounds culled from urban
environments. Mieke Lambrigts presented a new chapter in her
series of electronic ‘chamber music’: location recordings and sine
generators, tailored to a specific environment. Jeroen Vandesande
composed a new piece for a closed feedback circuit with string
performers Thomas Smetryns and Dirk Moelants.
